This Ultimate Brioche Burger celebrates classic American grilling with a California twist—think juicy beef patties, melty sharp cheddar, and vibrant local produce layered onto soft, buttery brioche buns. Toasted with just a swipe of butter, the buns provide a subtle sweetness and irresistible texture, while a tangy house sauce and peppery arugula keep things fresh. Finished with ripe heirloom tomato and crisp red onion, this burger is both comforting and a little gourmet, perfect for a slightly cool, foggy San Francisco evening.
Ingredients
Instructions
  1. Form the ground beef into 4 equal patties, making a slight indent in the center of each. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat a large skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add vegetable oil. When hot, cook the patties for about 3–4 minutes per side for medium, topping each with a slice of cheddar during the last minute to melt.
  3. While the patties cook, slice the buns and spread cut sides with butter. Toast on a skillet or under a broiler until golden and crisp.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, and ketchup to form the house sauce.
  5. To assemble, spread sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Top with a handful of arugula, then the burger patty with melted cheese, tomato slices, and red onion. Crown with the top bun.
  6. Serve immediately, with extra sauce on the side if desired.
